Seoul's first cold snap of the fall: the weather service forecasts a sunny 7–14°C Halloween Saturday, 3°C and afternoon rain on Sunday, and 1–4°C mornings next week. Here's how to layer, where to grab ₩1,000 hot packs, and where to buy a jacket if you packed too light.

The forecast, day by day

1. FRI 30Rain clears early, 10–18°C

   Rain from Thursday afternoon (5–10mm in Seoul) ends around dawn on Friday. Cloudy in the morning, clearing in the afternoon.

2. SAT 31Halloween: sunny, 7–14°C

   Clear all day. Warm enough at noon, but it drops back to single digits after dark, so bring a layer for evening plans.

3. SUN 13–11°C, rain in the afternoon

   The cold comes back: a 3°C morning, cloudy, with rain likely from the afternoon (60% chance). An umbrella and a warm jacket.

4. MON–WEDMornings 1–4°C, days 11–12°C

   Mostly clear and dry. Tuesday morning is the coldest at 1°C. The weather service says lows run below normal for early November.

What to wear

1. BASEA thin thermal top

   Our tip: a heat-tech style thermal layer under a sweater or sweatshirt does more than one thick coat, and you can take it off indoors where heating is strong.

2. OUTERA light padded jacket

   Days of 11–14°C plus cold mornings and nights: a light down or padded jacket over your layers covers both. Fleece alone lets wind through on gusty days.

3. NIGHTHat, gloves, warm socks

   For Halloween, Han River or night markets, bring a beanie and gloves. Touch-screen gloves let you keep using your phone map.

The ₩1,000 fix: hot packs

   Shake it and put it in your pocket. Daiso lists it at ₩1,000 for 2, lasting up to 14 hours.

   Sticks onto your clothes (back, lower back). Daiso lists it at ₩2,000 for 3, up to 12 hours. Never stick it on bare skin or sleep with it: it can cause low-temperature burns.

3. 24/7Any convenience store

   CU, GS25, 7-Eleven and emart24 all sell hot packs, and hot-pack sales jumped there in October. Prices vary by store and brand.

   CU convenience stores started selling winter outerwear on Oct 22: a light padded jacket (₩39,900), a windbreaker (₩27,900) and a fleece jacket (₩22,900), black, sizes 100 and 105. Not every store stocks them.

   Daiso's Aero Heat thermal innerwear is ₩5,000 per top or bottom (black). It also sells knits, fleece and windbreakers under ₩5,000.

   GS25 sells Musinsa Standard heat innerwear in many stores, plus gloves, earmuffs and warm socks.
